have the infrastructure facilities improved in stations??

Are the trains the public life line or death drap!this is the question which runs in the people’s mind that seemed to have proved by an incident where a middle aged man died apparently after being hit by a train at Fort Railway Station mid-morning of march 27 2008.

This s the fort station where the commuters passes by frequently that often leads to tragic accidents like hit away by trains due to poor infrastructure for safety walkway... There are no pedestrian facilities in this station. The station’s one side has been demolished along muthuswamy bridge but for people who come from tambaram or mrts, this steep staircase makes commuters to avoid the usage of existing structure...due to this they forget the existance of track coming from park station. ..Though crossing the track is an offence it is the human psychology to take the easier way when the bridges are no use to them.. Basic facilities like proper placement of bridges and lighting can reduce these deaths ... there are various other problems which creates discomfort for pedestrians as like one in kodambakkam station. This entrance to the station creates obstruction to the passengers to enter the station and most commonly used by blind people. The situation becomes even more worse at night time... creating a pathway might avoid accidents in such cases .As a whole according to the source of information reported by railways department they deposit fund of 25 crores only for the infrastructure like lifts , escalators, lighting. . Why cannot the Chennai Division of Southern Railway install good facilities including escalators at all its stations for passengers? Most of the railway bridges are of iron and stone age in british style which now fail to use for handicapped people. But where do these money go????so many such accidents take place in other suburban stations like…………

Most of the handicapped users faces such problem everyday using this Kodambakkam station in Chennai on the Beach - Tambaram line. This is also the old Victorian era designed only for abled people. The handicapped man had to climb the steep, dirty staircase on his hands.AGAIN WHERE IS THE MODERNISED SYSTEMS like lifts and escalators.????

Poor parking facilities at Mambalam railway station --Commuters using the suburban train service from West Mambalam faces difficulty of the lack of parking facilities on the Station Road there.

The parking lot currently accommodates around 500 to 600 scooters and motorcycles, and around 200 bicycles according to commuters and parking lot attendants.the main problem is that the parking area is more than a foot below the road level, even a brief spell of shower causes problems as rainwater stagnates. Construction debris has been piled up in several parts of the parking lot. “The approach path from the main road is a muddy slope making the condition more difficult for exiting vehicles. The shed that has been put up would be removed once the contract ended.the booking counter and parking slots are placed very near creating a chaos during the peak hour.. the planning aspects like parking facilities, better infrastructure keeping handicaps in mind and modernized mechanism should be implemented but will it happen is a big?
