I would like to take this opportunity to emphasize on the current grievances that the day to day commuters have to tackle due to the uncanny planning and construction of the suburban train station at Egmore.The staircase to the platform has been a major concern over the years due to the non-standard dimensions that have been put into use.The stairway is congested at all times and the steps are comparatively smaller,not to mention about the poor maintenance.The scenario is worsened by beggars and vendors. It takes a long time for the passengers to move out of the station during the peak hours.Also, this crowded pathway is highly prone to fiascos and mishaps.This station was built during the time of British and boasts to be one among the prominent stations under southern railway.Inspite of the many accolades received,this faulty stairway stands as a hinderance in front of it’s prestige.
The Govt should take proper proactive measures to overcome this problem and relieve the people from the unfavourable situation.
