ART FOR ART SAKE OR ART FOR LIFE SAKE

ART FOR ART SAKE OR ART FOR LIFE SAKE

Art should never be for life`s sake.....its the work done with passion....anything done with passion blended with imagination and creativity, eventually reaches a level of perfection called ART. The purpose of a piece of art should not be earning money but art should be done to meet the quest of ones passion in a particular field. But it needs to be appreciated and encouraged with its appropriate value.

Many people take up their passion to earn a living and cannot be blamed for it. In the case of an architect , the art of designing a building is their profession, as well as passion for some. As long as the architect doesnt compromise with his design for his profession it remains an art for art`s sake - but when he starts compromising with his own work for his clients it becomes an art for life`s sake.

Also, there is something called an aquired artistic abilities or a forced artistry. In this one has to be good at it because he has no other choice, as in the case of potter. He inherits the business, He's forced into it . He does it for a living. But with time he improves, his imaginations improve , and so improves the art. Here the art is for a life sake which has some artistic quotient attached to it as well.

All in all, in today's world, 'art for life' and 'art for art' are complementary to each other. One has to survive depending on some growth of the other as well. Every commercial artist may not be that good at art and those who are may starve for its value. So a balanced equation of a bit of both, makes a complete artist.
